Alaska Book Week 2018

If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably noticed we have Alaska Book Week every October. It’s a nice way to give a shoutout for Alaska books and authors. There’s a lot going on this year, so I’ll just give you a few highlights and give you the link to learn more!

In Juneau, the Fr. Andrew P. Kashevaroff Building is displaying Alaska books and hosting activities from cartoons to author talks. In Fairbanks, the Bear Gallery is hosting several author events. In Homer,  several author talks are scheduled around town.

In Anchorage, the bigger city means more events. Bookstores are hosting book signings with a variety of Alaskan poets and authors, from literary folks like Chaun and Tara Ballard and Joan Naviyuk Kane, to picture book authors like Barbara Jacko Atwarer and Ethan Jacko Atwater to YA authors like Dan Walker and C. M. McCoy. The Friends of the Library will have poet Nicole Stellon O’Donnell, and the UAA Bookstore will host a discussion of the translation of John Haines poems from English into Chinese. I’m also looking toward to the Alaska Native Book Fair at the ANTHC campus.

And this is just sample—I left a bunch out! Please check out the full schedule at http://www.alaskabookweek.org.

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.
