Cowboy Country

Many people think of cowboys as part of the Old West, or maybe songs by Willie and Waylon of the 1970s. But they are still alive and well in much of the American West.

While I was traveling this fall, we drove through cowboy country in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and California. They may be fewer people involved in the business, but there are still acres and acres of pasture, cattle, and cowboys and cowgirls making a living and keeping the lifestyle going. Here are few photos of today’s cowboy country.

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.
