Government Hill, Anchorage

Government Hill is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Anchorage, Alaska, probably named for all the government employees who lived there starting in 1915 with the early days of the Alaska Railroad. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the area last month. Here are some photos of the historical buildings still being used there.

It’s always nice to see a bit of Alaska history, and our Government Hill neighbors have done a great job preserving theirs.

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.
