My Author Activities

Summer’s a busy time in Alaska, with the extra daylight and fun things to do like fishing, camping, hiking, and berry picking. I’ve managed to schedule some writing activities into the season, too. Here are a few things I’m doing in the next few weeks:

Teen Writing Society

Our teen writing club meets twice a month at the Anchorage Public Library’s Loussac or Mountain View branch. We’re adding a virtual critique group, also. Check out the Teen Underground page for the most current information at

Seward Teen Workshop

I’m leading a workshop on Convincing Characters at the Seward Community Library Museum on July 31. Make your characters leap off the page! Join us for pizza and writing! Learn more at https://www.facebook.com/events/795835437481047/.

YRW Class

I’m leading the online workshop “Writing YA/NA Historical Romance” for Yosemite Romance Writers August 5-30. Can you just throw Bella or Katniss into the nineteenth century to create a historical romance? This four-week workshop will provide the skills an author needs to write an historical romance with young characters. Learn more at hhttps://www.yosemiteromancewriters.com/workshops

If you’d like updates on my events, please subscribe to my email newsletter at

http://eepurl.com/HSPbX. I promise not to spam you—I usually send newsletters about every two or three months unless there’s big news to share!

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.
