2025 Watchword: Perseverance

I choose a watchword for each year, giving me a focus for those twelve months. Last year’s word was Grace (see more at https://www.lynnlovegreen.com/post/update-on-2024-watchword-grace), and it helped me to show grace as I moved through the world.

This year’s word is perseverance.

Persistence: from Britannica: “the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people”

I hope to use perseverance to pursue my professional goals. For example, I am still working on my writing projects and on finding a literary agent, and hope to continue into this year.

I also want to persevere in other areas, such as my involvement with Authors Against Book Bans. I’ve been active for several months, and hope to carry on the work. It’s easy to make goals at the beginning of the year. It’s harder to keep them, especially if they are long-term goals and you don’t have complete control of the outcome. I hope to hang in there and show perseverance in 2025.
