Termination Dust

Termination dust is the first snow on the mountains, a sign that the summer season is over and fall is almost here. It happened last week!

Autumn in southcentral Alaska is lovely, although not as spectacular as it is in New England and other places. Instead of bold colors, we get subtle shades of yellows and golds. We have more reds in tundra territory, but there are no trees there, just berries and other low-lying plants.

Here are a few recent shots of our early fall colors near my house. Hope you enjoy whatever season you’re having!
