Social Media 2.0

It’s been fun to mess around with new social media. I’ve had the website, Twitter, etc. for a while now, but I’ve been doing more with Pinterest and Tumblr. At first I was a little apprehensive about trying something different, but now I find I enjoy those as much as the other social media.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Pinterest, people post (“Pin”) pictures and other visual things to boards of different topics. I have boards called Reading and Writing, Happiness, Cool History, Alaska Pics, Shameless Promotion, Inspiration, Disclaimer Notice, and I share a group board called Queen of Pinterest. As I look through what the people I follow have pinned, I can repin cool things to my own boards. Most of the time, it’s light-hearted stuff but some of the history and inspiration quotes have more substance to them. You can see my boards at http://pinterest.com/lynnlovegreen/boards/.

Tumblr is supposed to be one of the big things to do if you’re a young adult writer, so I started a blog there recently. It is similar to Pinterest in that people usually post pictures or short things, but I see a lot more text and animation there. I call my blog there Your Heart Knows The Way, and my description is “Lynn Lovegreen’s Tumblr of wisdom, books and fun stuff–teens welcome!” As you can guess, my focus is wise quotes and advice, reading and writing, and fun or funny things I find out there. I follow different people than I do on other sites, and there are some great blogs on Tumblr. You can see mine at http://lynnlovegreen.tumblr.com/.

I’m enjoying new friends and new things to read/view. And hopefully people will find me and enjoy too. Social media 2.0 is not that scary after all. What social media do you enjoy?

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.
