So you’re probably aware that my first young adult/new adult historical romance Fools Gold was released on December 4th. The last few weeks were focused on getting the word out about the book. I learned a lot about that process. I plowed through book review sites and submitted review requests. I created author pages for Goodreads and Amazon, and I figured out how to use Authorgraph.com to create virtual signatures for ebooks. Book release day was busy, as some sites would only let me post when the book was officially out, and I also posted items on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Pinterest. But the work was rewarding when so many people assisted me in these tasks.
It is exciting to see that book online and on bookshelves. But it is also gratifying to see the book community pull together to help out a new author. Two author friends hosted me on their blogs, and another one will next month. Friends volunteered to read and review the book on their sites, Amazon and Goodreads. Website representatives and volunteers guided me through their systems. Lots of people shared or liked on Facebook or Twitter, some who’d never heard of me until the release. Some were writers, some were readers. Much of this activity was on blind faith that the book would be a good one, or simply from the goodness in their hearts. I am humbled by all this generosity. I am not going to thank people by name because there are so many, and I’d hate to slight someone by missing them. If you helped out and you’re reading this, you deserve a big thanks and a hug, and a dozen homemade cookies or whatever your thing is. Please know you are appreciated. I promise I will do my best to pay it forward and help people who are on the same journey. After all, all we really have is each other.
Time for me to get back to writing! But I am counting my blessings and enjoying Fools Gold taking its place out in the world. Thank you all for your support.
