YARC: Year of the Asian Reading Challenge 2019 #YARC

I am participating in the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge (YARC). It’s a good way to broaden your reading and support Asian or Asian-descent authors and books. Readers post when they start, choose levels for how many books they plan to read, and post about their progress. To learn more, see the post at https://shutupshealea.com/projects/asian-reading-challenge/. There are monthly book recommendations and more! And you can check out the Twitter campaign at @YearoftheAsian.
I already have a large to-be-read pile of books to go through, and have declared on Goodreads that I hope to read 12 books this year (outside of my reading for book research), so I have a modest goal for this challenge, at 10 books. My level is the Phillippine tarsier (1 to 10 books read). Isn’t that a cute badge?!

There are lots of Asian authors and books in the young adult category, so I have plenty to choose from. Maybe you can join me?! Not sure where to start? Here are a few YA authors I’m interested in, to get you going:
Sabina Khan https://sabina-khan.com
Stacey Lee http://www.staceyhlee.com
Sandyha Menon http://www.sandhyamenon.com
Or look up this list of ten recommendations from Epic Reads at https://www.epicreads.com/blog/asian-american-ya-books/.
I hope to hear about your YARC challenge—leave a comment or tweet me at @lynnlovegreen !
P.S. Two books read already! I really enjoyed Sherry Thomas’ The Perilous Sea, a YA fantasy, and My Beautiful Enemy, an historical romance.
P.P.S. 4/5/19: Just finished To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han–a great YA contemporary romance!

I love to share my passion for Alaska and its history in my writing for young adults and their grown ups.

Just read Sherry Thomas’ A Study in Scarlet Women. Thomas has written a clever and exciting mystery that everyone will enjoy–especially fans of Sherlock Holmes and strong women characters. I can’t wait to read the next in the series!

And I read Bridge of Scarlet Leaves by Kristina McMorris, so I’m up to five books so far!
